Day1
At 07:30, we will meet the guide in front of Dragon Hill Spa near Yongsan Station and take a guided tour bus to Jecheon. The bus ride will take about 3 and a half hours, with one rest stop along the way. Once we arrive at the small village of Susanmyeon in Jecheon, which is about a 40-minute drive from Jecheon City Hall, we will meet a local guide and enjoy a Welcome Drink (tea) while listening to stories about the area. Afterward, we will take a leisurely 20-minute stroll, admiring the view of Mt. Wolak and Cheongpung Lake, before moving on to the next location.
As we explore the beautiful countryside scenery of a Korean rural village, we will come across “Baekbong Jumak” (“Baekbong Tavern”). Jumak is a place that has traditionally provided food, drinks, and lodging to weary travelers. “Baekbong Jumak” is a small tavern that has been around for 15 years and offers a place to rest, enjoy refreshments, and indulge in a delicious lunch. The owners will treat us to their homemade tofu, Korean-style pancake called “buchimgae,” “dotori muk” (acorn jelly) made with tofu, and traditional Korean rice wine called “makgeolli.” We’ll savor this delightful meal while taking in the view of Mt. Wolak and Cheongpung Lake. (Please drink responsibly, as we have a kayaking program scheduled for later.)
π After enjoying a delicious meal, we will move to a viewing deck near the Cheongpung Lake by hiking for about 20 minutes. After taking in the beautiful scenery, we will hike down the mountain for about 40 minutes and also take the time to walk on the suspension bridge. We will enjoy the surrounding views and listen to the stories of the people living in the village, experiencing a healing time.
Now, instead of just seeing the Cheongp7ngho Lake with your eyes, let’s try kayaking to directly enjoy the lake. After listening to the safety guidelines, have a fun time!
<Delightful food tour in Jecheon> This is the highlight of the trip. We will have a Korean traditional meal with locally sourced ingredients, prepared by the locals. It is said that when important guests visited in the past, Koreans would prepare a full table of food. Each person would have one table with side dishes and rice. Listening to the explanation of the side dishes can be quite fun and time flies by.
After dinner, we will have a campfire time before moving to the accommodation to rest.
Day2
π At 09:30, we will move to an apple orchard in Jecheon and have breakfast. A couple who moved to Jecheon to start farming will share their episodes and stories about the village. We will have waffles, bean cream, jujube jam, potato soup, coffee, and apples for breakfast. At 11 o’clock, we will check out of our accommodation and head back to Seoul Station. I hope everyone has created happy memories in Jecheon.
